This Artist Has Suffered 50,000 Seizures, But Still Makes These Awe-Inspiring Artworks

Diagnosed with a brain tumour at 15, Nicholas Kontaxis has suffered over 50,000 seizures throughout his life.

Struggling to find any entry-level jobs, the Californian (now 23) began occupying his time by painting large scale acrylics, for eight hours a day, every day.

It soon turned out he had quite the knack for it — his works praised as ‘visual symphonies’, exploding with colour. (In our opinion, these would make arresting moquette patterns too.)

Having won plaudits in the USA — and commissions from the likes of Coachella and Adidas — Kontaxis now arrives for his first international exhibition, at 35 Baker Street.

The ultimate goal, says Kontaxis’s parents, is to see these paintings hung in hospitals and corporations around the world — encouraging people to see the world a bit differently.

While this exhibition may be the first time you see a Kontaxis, it won’t be the last.
