“Catch Me”: The Story and Art of Nicholas Kontaxis Come to Greece for the First Time
The exhibition “Catch Me” brings to Greece for the first time the work and life story of Nicholas Kontaxis, a Greek-American artist of international acclaim and a Forbes 30 Under 30 honoree, who has transformed the challenges of his life into an explosive artistic language filled with strength, emotion, and optimism.

Living with severe physical and developmental challenges, and having endured over 75,000 epileptic seizures, Nicholas uses art as his sole means of expression. He creates large-scale works that convey a universal message of resilience and inspiration.
At the center of the exhibition stands his iconic trampoline artwork — once a tool for rehabilitation, now transformed into a canvas. It symbolizes solidarity and renewal, inviting viewers to see life with fresh eyes and courage.
As Fleurette Karadonti, Chair of the Board of the Basil & Elise Goulandris Foundation, highlights:
“The Catch Me exhibition is yet another reminder that art is a universal language. Nicholas Kontaxis’s work transcends boundaries and limitations, speaking directly to the viewer’s heart. This is not merely a painting exhibition; it is an ode to courage, creativity, and the unparalleled power of perseverance.”
Equally moving are the words of the artist’s mother and representative, Krisann Kontaxis, who is in Athens for the exhibition:
“Catch Me is Nicholas’s dream — to share his art with Greece, the country of his ancestors. This is our invitation to the public to join hands and discover how creativity can become refuge, hope, and a way of life.
Nicholas may not speak with words, but through his art, he expresses what words often fail to convey.”
The “Catch Me” exhibition is accompanied by inclusive activities and educational programs, in collaboration with the Nevronas team and Leonteios School of Nea Smyrni. These initiatives enrich the visitor experience and highlight the importance of inclusion and empathy through art.
Visitors will also be able to explore a recreation of Nicholas’s original studio, and take part in hands-on workshops inspired by his techniques and materials — including palette knives, coffee, and spices — offering a sensory, immersive connection to his artistic world.
“Catch Me” is not just an exhibition — it is a powerful voice that bridges art and life, delivering a universal message of acceptance, courage, and creative strength.
